Wednesday 21 August
9:20 AM to 11 AM
Book week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the gift of reading and the written word. Words have the capacity to inspire, inform, educate, transport and even transform.
Our theme for Book Week this year is Reading is Miraculous: Share the Miracle of Reading.
The ability to read and write has allowed people from all corners of the earth to share knowledge, ideas, hopes, and dreams across centuries of history. According to the World Literacy Foundation, literacy has significant economic, social, and health impacts at both an individual and societal level. Reading is both wonderous and empowering.
The Bible talks about God’s words as transformative. We see evidence of this in Jesus, whose words had the power to calm storms, heal diseases, and even raise the dead. As we read the Bible, God’s words have the power to transform our minds and our hearts and equip us to be God’s people in His world.
Parents and friends are invited to share the miracle of reading with us at our official Book Week Celebration on Wednesday, 21 August.
We will commence the morning at 9:20 AM with a Book Parade for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Hall, followed by a Parent Connect morning tea and bookstall by The Wandering Bookseller.
As a way of sharing the miracle of reading, all students and families are invited to share the miracle of reading with our partner school in Vanuatu, CCC Teouma, by purchasing a book to donate to their new library. You can purchase from The Wandering Bookseller on the day or send a book purchased from your local bookstore anytime during Book Week.
We look forward to celebrating the miracle of reading with our families on 21 August. Don’t be shy to join in the fun by dressing as your favourite book character!
