As we look ahead to 2027, I am pleased to announce some exciting new roles that will build on the strengths of our staff at Kuyper and create further opportunities for both students and teachers to grow.
In 2027, our current Year 5 teacher Jeff Brown, will move into a full-time role as Learning Enrichment Teacher (Years 3–10).
Drawing on Jeff’s STEM skills and experience, this new role will increase opportunities for students to participate in programs that challenge, extend and grow their learning, including access to external extracurricular opportunities and inter-school programs. Jeff will continue to teach STEM across Years 3–6, while extending this extra-curricular work with students across a broader range of year levels.
Alongside teaching Year 3, Anne Cuthill, will take on the additional role of Instructional Coach & Literacy Coordinator in 2027.
An initial focus of this role will be the commencement of a two-year P–12 writing program designed to strengthen the teaching of writing across the School. The program will support staff to develop their understanding of effective writing instruction and refine their practice in developing strong writing across different Key Learning Areas.
Anne’s work will also form part of the continued implementation of Steplab in the Primary School. Introduced at Kuyper this year, Steplab is an instructional coaching program designed to support teachers in the continual development and refinement of their classroom practice through focused, on-site professional learning and evidence-based practice.
These appointments reflect something we value deeply at Kuyper: lifelong learning. We want our students to be growing as learners, but we also want to be a community in which our staff continue to learn, develop their gifts, and strengthen their practice.
They also highlight one of the great strengths of being a Prep to Year 12 school—the opportunity to recognise the specialised skills God has given members of our staff and employ those gifts in ways that serve students and colleagues across our school community.
We already see the benefits of this approach through Rob Weule’s work as Creative and Performing Arts Coordinator, teaching Music across the Primary School and coordinating our Musical and Band programs alongside his role as Year 4 teacher, and through Jason Baldwin’s work as our full-time Sports Coordinator (K-10). Their specialist skills and enthusiasm have created significant opportunities for our students and enriched the wider School community.
We look forward to seeing this continue to grow as Jeff and Anne step into their new roles in 2027. It is exciting to see staff using their God-given gifts to serve others, strengthen teaching and learning, and contribute to the flourishing of our School community as a whole.
