Letter from the Board Chair
Dear Members of the Kuyper Christian School Community,
It is with sadness I inform you that the Board has accepted the resignation of our Principal, Mr Mark Ramsay. Mark’s last day will be Friday, 15 November 2024. Mark’s resignation comes after he has faced a number of significant challenges this year, and we are deeply sorry to see him depart.
We appreciate that this has been a difficult decision for Mark and are grateful for the strong leadership he has provided in both his Assistant Principal and Principal roles over the past two years. In particular, we are grateful for Mark’s work initiating the Kurrajong program, developing our service learning opportunities, and re-establishing our Vanuatu service learning trip. In addition, building on his predecessor’s work, Mark has been instrumental in consolidating staff teams and recruiting valuable new staff to ensure strong Christian teaching and learning programs, solid enrolment growth, ongoing facility improvement, and a caring school community with Jesus at its core.
Mark will remain fully involved as Principal until his final day, focusing on seeing students through their HSC exams and working with the Board to ensure a thorough handover to his successor.
Details about how we will formally thank and farewell Mark will be provided in due course. In the meantime, please join the Board in thanking Mark for his contribution to our school and wishing him well in his future endeavours.
Be assured that the Board, management team, and teaching staff are determined to ensure that student learning, wellbeing, and school values remain at the core of our everyday business as we navigate this change.
The Board has commenced a recruitment process with the support of specialist consultants from Christian Education National. We are dedicated to ensuring strong, godly leadership for Kuyper to build on the robust growth we have experienced over the last five years and guide our school through the next stage of our development. I will keep you updated on our progress as we work through the transition process.
For over forty years, God’s sovereign leadership has guided the course of our school and His faithfulness to our school community is abundantly evident. We trust God’s ongoing provision for Kuyper and value your partnership and prayerful support as we continue to be God’s people, in God’s place, under God’s rule.
Yours in Christ
Wayne Speirs
Board Chair
Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends,
I would like to thank the School Board Chair, Mr Wayne Speirs, for his kind words in announcing my resignation.
As Wayne has indicated, l have faced a number of significant challenges this year. Throughout this, I have sought to serve God and His school to the best of my ability, and my departure has by no means been an easy decision. However, it is the right decision.
Kuyper is an amazing school! Getting to know our wonderful school community over the past three years has been an absolute joy. One of the hardest aspects of my decision is the knowledge that I will be leaving a community I love. This school’s capacity for relationship is one of its outstanding features, and as a result, I have the privilege of calling many of you friends. I pray that this genuine care for people remains a core thread in the fabric of Kuyper.
While my resignation is an unexpected change, I am confident in the school’s strong position to navigate this transition. We have an exceptional staff team, great learning programs, a committed board, and a wonderful community of students, parents, grandparents, and friends. More importantly, we have a strong foundation in Jesus. God’s got this. He is good all the time.
The Board has already commenced the process of seeking a new Principal. I commend them to your prayers in this endeavour and am confident that God will provide the right person to lead this remarkable community into the future.
Please be assured of my love for you all. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of the Kuyper community. God is doing amazing things here, and it has been a true blessing to have been allowed to share that with you.
In Christ,
Mark Ramsay
Principal
